Seeing these creative individuals always putting out content, not just content, but a space held for various creatives and community members on their platform. Through their various segments from hosting artists, hosting their own events to being on the street speaking to the community at various locations. All tying in to their own mission - showcasing RGV voices through their own means.
Always a pleasure seeing them, always a pleasure seeing creatives such as themselves do their thing!

First of all for those who DON'T know - what's Breaker Breaker? What's your mission statement per say as he shares by saying "Breaker Breaker is an independent multimedia platform that brings the creative diversity of the RGV to a global scene. Our mission is to transform local talent into lasting cultural record through high-quality productions of LIVE performances, DJ sets, interviews, and documentaries that carry RGV voices far beyond our borders." Man, I remember seeing the announcement back in 2022 on Instagram! I was very curious to see what Breaker Breaker would be doing and it's been nothing but amazing! Hell, y'all have also put me on sick artists that I still listen to. What's significant about Breaker Breaker is that it's also an archive. For example Yruama an example of a valley artist who moved away, capturing bands that no longer play or are no longer in the valley, and Red Eye - I get to personally take a look back at a show I was once at. Love that.
How does Breaker Breaker include themselves into the community and what do you wish to provide/share/bring forward to an evolving space such as The Valley as he says "We want to become a hub for the RGV to check in and find their next favorite artist/band/DJ. Each individual artists has a limited reach, we hope that our work will magnify the efforts we’ve seen artists put in for years now. What sparked Red Eye specifically was constantly hearing phrases like 'there’s nothing to do in the valley'. After seeing the music documentary 'As I Walk Through The Valley' during lockdown and being shocked at how much music history was going down in the Valley, we thought that what was going on in the scene today deserved to known. Red Eye’s goal was to show people that they didn’t have to leave the Valley to find quality music and entertainment." Watching "As I Walk Through The Valley" led to me find one of my favorite bands being The December Drive. Of course the band is not together, but what about the bands of few years ago? Who has their CDs? Who has video? Who has photos? Who can share thoughts on what was merely a few years? Folks are holding onto that, but they're aching to share! History IS being made NOW. Even today we're aching to talk about what happened at the show YESTERDAY! With Breaker Breaker Being catching that moment - that's fire!

What pushed you to create such a platform? Was it a conversation between yourself and friends or a collection of ideas? What made you say "it's now or never"? As he explains "Working as a producer/engineer I felt that our scene deserved way more attention. I was constantly working with and finding out about artists who I thought were great and wanting to hear more music. We wanted to show the world The Valley wasn’t lacking talent, it was lacking visibility. That 'now or never' moment came from being surrounded by so many creatives who believed in Breaker Breaker enough to help launch / sustain it." Yeah, there is so much creativity. Whenever I go to a market, an event, a shop ect. I'm always in awe by what I'm finding and wanting to see what else resides within in our lower, middle and upper region of the Valley! I will agree - the valley is NOT lacking talent, not one bit.

Now, the anniversary is a few days away! Are there any highlights within the previous years or memories you'd like to share? "Way too many great memories to talk about them. Every singe episode/shoot that we’ve done has had a great outcome. Shout out to the artists/bands/DJs that make it easy. Looking back at the past three years, there are so many moments that make us proud. Late night meetings of brain storming, check ins, editing, and working on projects have brought us here. When Red Eye had the opportunity to cover the MIRAAA Media Fest and we were introduced to so many different organizations with similar missions as ours such as the Laredo Film Society and the Daphne Art Foundation."
New year, new projects! Would you be able to tease an upcoming event that you're wishing to bring into fruition? "We have the Music Video Showcase early 2026 in collaboration with ENTRE. Highlighting local music videos made this year, so if you make music and shot a music video go ahead and submit that submissions are still open. You won’t want to miss that!" SIGN UP, SIGN UP, SIGN UP!
I gotta share one of my favorite videos/artist's that Breaker Breaker put me onto a few years go.

Like y'all really be doing shit all together! Ahhh!

How do you feel about celebrating another anniversary under Breaker Breaker? What does that mean to y’all? Especially with the amount of community support leading up to the date "It’s so special. It means everything to have the peoples support and encouragement this is what keeps us alive and creating the best we can for you all." Hell yeah - I look forward to being there this SATURDAY!
From Red Eye, the in-house band/DJ recordings, Music Video Showcase, Mudd Club - man, what an array of content! How do you wish to push this forward into the coming year? "Man we’re just trying to keep up half the time lol We all work day jobs so please be patient with us. We got a few episodes in the vault so it won’t be too long." Looking forward to the new releases, really am.

Chloe Campbell (she/her) Host of Redd Eye
